Giulia Raniolo

Born in 1996 in the hot italian island of Sicily, I moved in 2015 to the rainy UK to study animation at AUB in Bournemouth.
The course gave me the opportunity to learn how to animate traditionally on lightboxes, and bond with so many wonderful artists and friends who I'm lucky to still work with in the industry.

Since graduating in 2018, I worked in pre-school TV shows, and under the wings of wonderful Lead Animators, I learnt the beauty of pupper animation on ToonBoom. From animation styles that were smooth and flowy, to more cartoonish quick paced actions, I honed my skills and comedy timings.

In 2022 I made the jump to start my freelancing career, working on hand-drawn projects and really using my drawing skills and attention (obsession?) with detail. From rough, to clean, to colour, I wore a lot of roles and have been met with appreciation by being extended on my contracts again and again.

​

I'm also a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, and I aim to be of help in the making of content that is progressive and that brings more representation to minorities. Outside of animating like a madman, I started a queer bookclub in 2021, that has consistently grown in a beautiful family, called "The Reading Slugs".
